Synthesis and Electrical Analysis of Ba5GdTi3V7O30 Ceramics  [PDF]

Abstract: A polycrystalline sample of Ba5GdTi3V7O30 was prepared using a mixed oxide method at high temperature (i.e., at 950℃). The formation of single-phase compound with orthorhombic structure at room temperature was confirmed from preliminary X-ray diffraction study. Detailed studies of dielectric properties of Ba5GdTi3V7O30, investigated in a wide frequency range (102 - 106 Hz) at different temperatures (33℃ - 500℃) showed that these properties of the material are strongly dependent on frequency and temperature. The existence a dielectric anomaly suggests that the compound has a transition temperature at ~385℃. The nature of the variation of conductivity and value of activation energy in different regions, calculated from the temperature dependence of ac conductivity (dielectric data) suggest that the conduction process is of mixed type (i.e., ionic-polaronic and space charge generated from the oxygen ion vacancies). The ac conductivity spectrum obeys Jonscher’s universal power law.
Multiple Roughness Characteristics of Chemically Deposited Ni-P-W Coatings

Abstract: This paper presents an experimental study of multiple roughness characteristics of Ni-P-W coatings on a mild steel substrate. The different roughness parameters considered are centre line average roughness (Ra), root mean square roughness (Rq), skewness (Rsk), kurtosis (Rku) and mean line peak spacing (Rsm). The aim of the present study is to optimize the coating process parameters based on Taguchi method and Grey relational analysis in order to obtain the particular bath composition which may be used to deposit Ni-P-W coatings with optimum roughness characteristics. Experiments are carried out based on the L27 Taguchi orthogonal designusing the combination of three process parameters, namely, concentration of tungsten ion, concentration of reducing agent and concentration of nickel source. It is observed that concentration of tungsten ion has the most significant influence in controlling roughness characteristics of Ni-P-W coating. The surface morphology, composition and phase structure of coatings are also studied with the help of scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis and X-ray diffraction analysis respectively
Effective Machine to Machine Communications in Smart Grid Networks

Abstract: The smart grid is generally characterized as the combination of communications-intensive IT applications with the electric power systems. Which is managed by transmission and distribution system operators (TDSOs) outfitting 20th century electric grids with 21st century telecommunications technology. The smart grid purpose is to create near-real-time control mechanisms that improve the quality of electricity delivery, reduce carbon emissions, manage distributed energy resources, provide automated demand response and reduce the cost of electricity to consumers. Smart grid requires a number of integrated yet distinct applications that require varying degrees of reliability, latency, availability, throughput and security. The wireless sensor network used in the proposed scheme is based on IEEE 802.15.4 link layer technology and the sensor nodes have the ability to sense the power consumption and sensor gateway node from each building communicate directly with the base station. The main parameters characterizing the data link performance have been assessed and analyzed through simulations carried out in the QualNet environment. The result obtained shows as energy conservation in machine to machine communication with considering different existing communication technology. The results obtained show as rapid-connect packet data, reliable network services and reduced overall infrastructure support requirements of the low latency critical data transmission in smart grid. Our consideration is implemented In QualNet environment.
Simultaneous estimation of metformin hydrochloride and pioglitazone hydrochloride by RPHPLC method from combined tablet dosage form

Abstract: A high performance reverse phase liquid chromatographic procedure is developed for simultaneous estimation of metformin hydrochloride and pioglitazone hydrochloride in combined tablet dosage form. The mobile phase used was a combination of acetonitrile:water:acetic acid (60:40:0.3) and the pH was adjusted to 5.5 by adding triethylamine. The detection of the combined dosage form was carried out at 230 nm and a flow rate employed was 1 ml/min. Linearity was obtained in the concentration range of 0.015 to 0.120 mg/ml of pioglitazone hydrochloride and 0.5 to 4.0 mg/ml of metformin hydrochloride with a correlation coefficient of 0.9992 and 0.9975. The results of the analysis were validated statistically and recovery studies confirmed the accuracy and precision of the proposed method.
Microwave absorption behaviour of MWCNT based nanocomposites in X-band region

Abstract: Multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) based nanocomposites were prepared by a two-step process. Firstly, titanium dioxide (TiO2) coated MWCNT was prepared via sol-gel technique. In the second step, the acid modified MWCNTs were dispersed in the thermoplastic polyurethane matrix by solution blending process. Characterizations of the nanocomposites were done by X-ray diffraction analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Microwave absorption studies of the nanocomposites were carried out in X-band region. The microwave absorption result was discussed with the help of complex permittivity and permeability of the prepared radar absorbing material (RAM). The result showed superior microwave absorption property of the composite containing both TiO2 coated MWCNT and magnetite (Fe3O4). This result is due to the effective absorption of both electrical and magnetic components of the microwave. RAM-MW, RAM-Ti, RAM-Ti@MW and RAMTi@ MW/Fe and showed the maximum reflection loss of –16.03 dB at 10.99 GHz, –8.4 dB at 12.4 GHz, –36.44 dB at 12.05 GHz and –42.53 dB at 10.98 GHz respectively. Incorporation of MWCNT enhanced the thermal stability of the composite which has been confirmed by thermogravimetric analysis.
Integrating GPS, GSM and Cellular Phone for Location Tracking and Monitoring

Abstract: The wide spread of mobiles as handheld devices leads to various innovative applications that makes use of their ever increasing presence in our daily life. One such application is location tracking and monitoring. This paper proposes a prototype model for location tracking using Geographical Positioning System (GPS) and Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) technology. The system displays the object moving path on the monitor and the same information can also be communicated to the user cell phone, on demand of the user by asking the specific information via SMS. This system is very useful for car theft situations, for adolescent drivers being watched and monitored by parents. The result shows that the object is being tracked with a minimal tracking error.
DRUG: An Energy-Efficient Data-Centric Routing Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: In general, sensor nodes are deployed in left unattended area. In such situation feeding energy to the batteries or replacing the batteries is difficult or even sometimes impossible too. Therefore, prolonging the network lifetime is an important optimization goal in this aspect. In this paper, we propose a new Energy-efficient Datacentric RoUtinG protocol called DRUG. In this paper, we propose an adaptive Data centric approach to find an optimal routing path from source to sink when the sensor nodes are deployed randomly deployed in a restricted service area with single sink. Using the NS-2 Simulator, we compare the performance of DRUG with that of the FLOODING and SPIN protocol.
Optimization of physical and nutritional parameters for hyaluronidase production by Streptococcus mitis

Abstract: The effect of some physical and nutritional parameters were studied for the optimum production of extracellular enzyme hyaluronidase employing Streptococcus mitis MTCCFNx012695 by submerged fermentation. The effects of initial pH, incubation temperature and time, inoculum level and age of inoculum were studied. The maximum enzymatic activity was obtained with an initial pH 5.8, incubation temperature 37°, incubation time for 48 h and inoculum level 6% with inoculum age 24 h. The effect of different carbon and nitrogen sources and antibiotics were studied. The results indicated that sucrose and ammonium chloride showed the highest enzymatic activity among various carbon and nitrogen sources. Antibiotic clarithromycin showed strong inhibitory effect on hyaluronidase production.
Antibacterial activity of Barringtonia acutangula against selected urinary tract pathogens

Abstract: Barringtonia acutangula (L.) Gaertn belonging to family Barringtoniaceae was investigated to evaluate In vitro antibacterial activity of aqueous, ethanolic, petroleum ether and chloroform extracts against Staphylococcus aureus , Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli the major urinary tract infection causing pathogens were tested by disc diffusion assay method and the minimum inhibitory concentration was evaluated. Ethanol (95%) extract exhibited broader spectrum of inhibition followed by chloroform, petroleum ether and aqueous extracts against the urinary tract pathogens under test. An attempt has been made to compare the activity of extracts with standard antibiotics against selected urinary tract infection causing pathogens.
Large aerosol optical depths observed at an urban location in southern India associated with rain-deficit summer monsoon season

Abstract: The seasonal variations and interannual variability of total precipitable water (TPW) deduced from the Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I) satellite over oceanic regions of the Indian sub-continent during the years between 1988 to 1998 show characteristic behavior. The weekly patterns of TPW are found to be closely related to the dynamics of the climatic conditions and the onset date of monsoon. The present results show that the satellite monitoring of TPW may prove as a good and reliable indicator in forecasting Indian monsoon.
