One synthetic model of creativity was proposed, which tried to unify the dispute whether creativity was domain generality or specificity by supporting domain generality-specificity duality. The creative thinking process included convergent thinking, divergent thinking and insight (originality).
Olfactory Bulb Glomerular NMDA Receptors Mediate Olfactory Nerve Potentiation and Odor Preference Learning in the Neonate Rat

Abstract: Rat pup odor preference learning follows pairing of bulbar beta-adrenoceptor activation with olfactory input. We hypothesize that NMDA receptor (NMDAR)-mediated olfactory input to mitral cells is enhanced during training, such that increased calcium facilitates and shapes the critical cAMP pattern. Here, we demonstrate, in vitro, that olfactory nerve stimulation, at sniffing frequencies, paired with beta-adrenoceptor activation, potentiates olfactory nerve-evoked mitral cell firing. This potentiation is blocked by a NMDAR antagonist and by increased inhibition. Glomerular dishinhibtion also induces NMDAR-sensitive potentiation. In vivo, in parallel, behavioral learning is prevented by glomerular infusion of an NMDAR antagonist or a GABAA receptor agonist. A glomerular GABAA receptor antagonist paired with odor can induce NMDAR-dependent learning. The NMDA GluN1 subunit is phosphorylated in odor-specific glomeruli within 5 min of training suggesting early activation, and enhanced calcium entry, during acquisition. The GluN1 subunit is down-regulated 3 h after learning; and at 24 h post-training the GluN2B subunit is down-regulated. These events may assist memory stability. Ex vivo experiments using bulbs from trained rat pups reveal an increase in the AMPA/NMDA EPSC ratio post-training, consistent with an increase in AMPA receptor insertion and/or the decrease in NMDAR subunits. These results support a model of a cAMP/NMDA interaction in generating rat pup odor preference learning.
Magnetic Phase Diagram of a Five-Orbital Hubbard Model in the Real-Space Hartree Fock Approximation Varying the Electronic Density

Abstract: Using the real-space Hartree Fock approximation, the magnetic phase diagram of a five-orbital Hubbard model for the iron-based superconductors is studied varying the electronic density $n$ in the range from 5 to 7 electrons per transition metal atom. The Hubbard interaction $U$ is also varied, at a fixed Hund coupling $J/U=0.25$. Several qualitative trends and a variety of competing magnetic states are observed. At $n$=5, a robust G-type antiferromagnetic insulator is found, in agreement with experimental results for BaMn$_2$As$_2$. As $n$ increases away from 5, magnetic states with an increasing number of nearest-neighbors ferromagnetic links become energetically stable. This includes the well-known C-type antiferromagnetic state at $n$=6, the E-phase known to exist in FeTe, and also a variety of novel states not found yet experimentally, some of them involving blocks of ferromagnetically oriented spins. Regions of phase separation, as in Mn-oxides, have also been detected. Comparison with previous theoretical investigations indicate that these qualitative trends may be generic characteristics of phase diagrams of multiorbital Hubbard models.

Abstract: Plexiform angiomyxoid myofibroblastic tumor (PAMT) is a recently described gastric tumor with a peculiar plexiform pattern, bland spindle cells and a myxoid stroma rich in arborizing blood vessels. PAMT of the stomach is a very rare tumor without distinctive clinical manifestations. In this study, we report a new case of PAMT which is the first Chinese case in English literature. A 47-year-old Chinese woman was admitted with a 6-month history of intermittent epigastric discomfort, and abdominal pain for 2 months. Gastroscopy showed an elevated mass in the anterior wall of the gastric antrum. Endoscopic ultrasound revealed a focal hypoechoic lesion protruding into the lumen. A laparoscopic distal gastrectomy was performed, and the patient made an uneventful recovery and remains well 1.5 years later. A diagnosis of PAMT was made by histopathology and immunochemistry.
Lossy-to-Lossless Compression of Hyperspectral Image Using the 3D Set Partitioned Embedded ZeroBlock Coding Algorithm  [PDF]

Abstract: In this paper, we propose a three-dimensional Set Partitioned Embedded ZeroBlock Coding (3D SPEZBC) lossy-to-lossless compression algorithm for hyperspectral image which is an improved three-dimensional Embedded ZeroBlock Coding (3D EZBC) algorithm. The algorithm adopts the 3D integer wavelet packet transform proposed by Xiong et al. to decorrelate, the set-based partitioning zeroblock coding to process bitplane coding and the con-text-based adaptive arithmetic coding for further entropy coding. The theoretical analysis and experimental results demonstrate that 3D SPEZBC not only provides the same excellent compression performances as 3D EZBC, but also reduces the memory requirement compared with 3D EZBC. For achieving good coding performance, the diverse wave-let filters and unitary scaling factors are compared and evaluated, and the best choices were given. In comparison with several state-of-the-art wavelet coding algorithms, the proposed algorithm provides better compression performance and unsupervised classification accuracy.
Spectral Analysis and Variable Structural Control of an Elastic Beam  [PDF]

An elastic beam system formulated by partial differential equations with initial and boundary conditions is investigated in this paper. An evolution equation corresponding with the beam system is established in an appropriate Hilbert space. The spectral analysis and semigroup generation of the system operator of the beam system are discussed. Finally, a variable structural control is proposed and a significant result that the solution of the system is exponentially stable under a variable structural control with some appropriate conditions is obtained.

Suppression of Graft Regeneration, Not Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury, Is the Primary Cause of Small-for-Size Syndrome after Partial Liver Transplantation in Mice

Abstract: Background Ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) is commonly considered to play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of small-for-size syndrome (SFSS) after liver transplantation. Rapid regeneration is also considered essential for the survival of SFS grafts. Methods Mouse models of full-size orthotopic liver transplantation, 50% partial liver transplantation and 30% partial liver transplantation were established. Survival rate and serum alanine aminotransferase were observed. IRI was assessed by hepatic pathologic alterations, apoptosis and necrosis. Regeneration response was detected by mitotic index, BrdU incorporation and PCNA, Cyclin D1 and Cyclin E expression. The expression of mTOR, AKT, ERK, JNK2 and p70S6K, also involved in regeneration signaling pathways, were analyzed as well. Results 30% partial liver graft resulted in a significantly low 7-day survival rate (P = 0.002) with no marked difference in tissue injury compared with the 50% partial graft group. Serum alanine aminotransferase levels were not significantly different between partial transplantation and full-size transplantation. Western blot analysis of caspase-3 and TUNEL staining also indicated no significant difference in apoptosis response between 30% partial transplantation and half-size or full-size transplantation (P = 0.436, P = 0.113, respectively). However, liver regeneration response indicators, mitotic index (P<0.0001) and BrdU (P = 0.0022), were markedly lower in 30% LTx compared with 50% LTx. Suppressed expression of PCNA, cyclin D1, cyclin E, mTOR, JNK2, AKT, ERK and p70S6K was also detected by western blot. Conclusions Liver regeneration is markedly suppressed in SFSS, and is more likely the primary cause of SFSS, rather than ischemia/reperfusion injury. Therapy for recovering graft regeneration could be a potentially important strategy to reduce the incidence of SFSS.
Charge Stripes in the Two-Orbital Hubbard Model for Pnictides

Abstract: The two-orbital Hubbard model for the pnictides is studied numerically using the real-space Hartree-Fock approximation on finite clusters. Upon electron doping, states with a nonuniform distribution of charge are stabilized. The observed patterns correspond to charge stripes oriented perpendicular to the direction of the spin stripes of the undoped magnetic ground state. While these charge striped states are robust when the undoped state has a Hubbard gap, their existence when the intermediate-coupling magnetic metallic state of pnictides is doped was also observed for particular model parameters. Results for hole doping and implications for recent experiments that reported electronic nematic states and spin incommensurability are also briefly discussed.
Interaction between Dutch Soccer Teams and Fans: A Mathematical Analysis through Cooperative Game Theory  [PDF]

Abstract: Inspired by the first lustrum of the Club Positioning Matrix (CPM) for professional Dutch soccer teams, we model the interaction between soccer teams and their potential fans as a cooperative cost game based on the annual voluntary sponsorships of fans in order to validate their fan registration in a central database. We introduce a natural cost allocation to the soccer teams, based in a natural manner on the sponsorships of fans. The game theoretic approach is twofold. On the one hand, an appropriate cost game called “fan data cost game” is developed and on the other, it is shown that the former natural cost allocation agrees with the solution concept called “nucleolus” of the fan data cost game.
Research on SAP Business One Implementation Risk Factors with Interpretive Structural Model  [PDF]

Abstract: The possible risk factors during SAP Business One implementation were studied with depth interview. The results are then adjusted by experts. 20 categories of risk factors that are totally 49 factors were found. Based on the risk factors during the SAP Business One implementation, questionnaire was used to study the key risk factors of SAP Business One implementation. Results illustrate ten key risk factors, these are risk of senior managers leadership, risk of project management, risk of process improvement, risk of implementation team organization, risk of process analysis, risk of based data, risk of personnel coordination, risk of change management, risk of secondary development, and risk of data import. Focus on the key risks of SAP Business One implementation, the interpretative structural modeling approach is used to study the relationship between these factors and establish a seven-level hierarchical structure. The study illustrates that the structure is olive-like, in which the risk of data import is on the top, and the risk of senior managers is on the bottom. They are the most important risk factors.
