Open Journal of Orthopedics (OJO) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ojo.2014.43009
Abstract: Giant cell tumour (GCT) or osteoclastoma is a very rare locally invasive bone tumour that occurs close to the joint. The ulnar metaphysis is an unusual site for an Osteoclastoma with occurrence rate of 0.45% to 3.2% as reported in literature [1]. Most of the patients seek traditional methods of treatment before orthopaedic consultation and present lately with extensive involvement of the tumour into soft tissues and articular surface, making the joint preservation difficult or impossible. For reconstruction, several options have been described, which include fibular autografts, allografts and cement augmentation. Inherent to all these procedures is the risk of delayed union of the graft and preserving functional mobility of the joint. We report a rare case of a proximal ulna GCT diagnosed in a 13-year-old girl. It was treated with intralesional curettage, and autologous maternal iliac crest bone grafting augmented with bone cement reconstruction.

Abstract: Giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath is the second most common tumor of the hand often referred to as xanthoma. Histologically these tumors are composed of multinucleated giant cells, polyhedral histiocytes, fibrosis and hemosiderin deposits. Marginal excision of giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath is the treatment of choice. We present a case of xanthoma of flexor pollicis longus tendon presented as a single enlarging mass in volar aspect of left thumb. After clinical diagnosis, work-up is done with ultrasound, FNAC and excision biopsy.

International Journal of Engineering Science and Technology , 2010,
Abstract: Images contain large amount of information that requires much storage space, large transmission bandwidths and long transmission times. Therefore it is advantageous to compress the image by storing only theessential information needed to reconstruct the image. An image can be thought of as a matrix of pixel (or intensity) values. In order to compress the image, redundancies must be exploited, for example, areas where there is little or no change between pixel values. Therefore images having large areas of uniform colour will have largeredundancies, and conversely images that have frequent and large changes in colour will be less redundant and harder to compress. The paper discusses the factors which influence the compression of artificial and natural images using wavelet transform.

American Journal of Food Technology , 2011,
Abstract: In this study, the food spoilage by the action of psychrophilic lipase has been investigated with respect to chicken meat and liver, which are stored at chilling temperatures in many places like the supermarkets. The lipolytic activity of some of the major psychrophilic bacterial population of chicken meat and liver available in the local market was seem to responsible not only for loss of flavor but also for production of certain toxic substances like 7-(2-hydroxyethyl)-monascorubramine, a red pigment produced by certain Penicillium sp. This is the unique report highlighting the importance of lipolysis as a cause of chicken meat and liver spoilage.

Journal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics , 2010,
Abstract: The present paper addresses the issue of collective competence and social capital analysis for collaborative networks. The objective of the project is to understand how collaborative networks can be influenced considering the perspective of social capital and core competences. In this model we defend the emphasis on endogenous resources, once the technology is, in a general way, accessible to most of the companies and, therefore will not be a long term competitive advantage. The model shows that collaborative networks will be more competitive and successful if they invest in to core elements that are: organizational culture and people. Therefore, the model contributes for the researches in socio-organizational filed and provides a tool to evaluate collaborative networks.

International Journal of Medical Research and Health Sciences , 2013, DOI: 10.5958/j.2319-5886.2.2.011
Abstract: The pseudarthrosis usually develops during the first two years of life; however, there are reports of cases in which fractures developed before birth and reports of late-onset pseudarthrosis. There is a strong association between Congenital pseudoarthrosis and Type I neurofibromatosis. CPT develops in about 5.7% of patients with NF-I and 40% of patients with pseudoarthrosis were found to have NF-I. Main pathology is hyperplasia of fibroblasts with the formation of dense fibrous tissue at fracture site causing osteolysis, and persistence of pseudarthrosis. The difficulty in treating this condition occurs because of two factors. 1) Biologic: poor healing ability of the dysplastic segment of bone and 2) Mechanical: technical difficulty to fix small and osteopenic bone fragments in children without damaging the distal physis. A multitude of treatment protocols focusing on stimulating the healing process by using different bone grafting techniques were documented6. The graft materials most commonly used included osteoperiosteal graft, massive onlay graft, autogenous iliac crest bone graft, and vascularised bone graft.
