Endothelial Nitric Oxyde Synthase Gene Polymorphisms in a Tunisian Deep Vein Thrombosis Group  [PDF]

Abstract: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a multi-factorial disease involving both genetic and acquired risk factors. The objective of this study was to determine the frequencies of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) gene polymorphisms G894T (rs1799983) and T-786C (rs2070744) to assess the role of these polymorphisms as a potential risk factor in the development of DVT. Methods: In this case-control study, we included 32 patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and 31 healthy control subjects. Clinical characteristics were collected. Lipids plasma concentrations were determined by the colorimetric method. Genotyping for the polymorphisms was performed by restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method. Results: We had found that the eNos G894T genotype G/T was significantly increasing the risk of DTV (P = 0.042, OR = 3.9; 95% CI = 1.09 to 13.92). But no association of the eNOS T-786C variant and DVT was found. For the eNOs T-786C polymorphism, the frequency of the T/T genotype was 87.5% in patients (with an allelic frequency of T Allele equal to 91%). No significant difference was noted between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The eNOs G894T polymorphism seems to be in association with DVT and may be considered as a risk factor, but this is not the case for the T-786C polymorphism.

Abstract:
Introduction: Ischemic heart disease ranked among the leading causes of death worldwide. Several biological and genetic risk factors associated with acute coronary syndrome. By addressing the risk factors, it is possible to prevent most of the cardiovascular diseases and contribute to the reduction of complications of acute coronary syndrome. Material and Methods: Our study is a prospective study that was conducted to the main military hospital of instruction of Tunis. Recruitment involved 122 coronary (n = 122) and 705 controls (n = 705) totaling a population of 827 subjects. Data collection concerned socio-demographic characteristics, anthropometric measurements, habits and lifestyle, health status and biological assessment. Results: Our study reported a high prevalence of cardiovascular classic risk factor particularly overweight (62.3%), diabetes (63.1%) and hypertension (50%). In 55% of coronary patients, moderate to intermediate hyperhomocysteinemia was found, but it appears to be an independent risk factor. The results of our study show a significant difference in the genotypic frequencies of the C677T mutation in the MTHFR gene between the two populations, cases and controls. Conclusion: Acute coronary syndromes are the leading cause of sudden death in adults. The evaluation of risk factors after acute coronary syndrome episode is essential for a better management according to the recommendations of learned societies and standards of good practice.

Les territoires du tramway moderne : de la ligne à la ville durable

Abstract: L’implantation de nouvelles lignes de tramway peut-elle contribuer à l’émergence d’une ville durable ? Pour répondre à cette question, cet article part d’un modèle théorique insérant le système économique de transport dans trois environnements : environnement économique général, environnement social, environnement naturel. Une nouvelle ligne de tramway correspond à une nouvelle offre dans le système économique de transport d’une aire urbaine. Cette nouvelle offre produit des effets potentiels sur le système économique de transport et sur ses trois environnements. Ces effets sont recensés à partir de différentes études des agences d’urbanisme de Nantes, Grenoble et Strasbourg. Ils sont regroupés dans trois espaces géométriques : la ligne, le corridor, le périmètre. Il est possible ensuite d’organiser ces espaces en territoires concrets correspondant à la rue, aux quartiers accessibles à pied et à l’ensemble de la ville. Le projet de ville durable a alors pour ambition d’utiliser les effets potentiels du tramway moderne pour une reproduction conjointe dans l’espace urbain de la sphère économique, de la sphère sociale et de la biosphère. How can new tramways lines promote the development of sustainable cities? This article attempts to address this question through the use of a theoretical model, which situates the economic transport system within three contexts: the larger economic environment, the social environment and the natural environment. A new tramway line constitutes a new supply within the economic transport system of an urban area and this supply in turn produces potential effects within that system and its three environments. These effects, which are identified on the basis of studies carried out by urban planning agencies in Nantes, Grenoble and Strasbourg, are grouped together in three geometrical configurations: the line, the corridor, and the perimeter. These forms can then be organized into concrete territories such as the street, the pedestrian neighborhood and the city. The sustainable city project can thus use the potential effects of modern tramways for the simultaneous reproduction of the economic sphere, the social sphere and the biosphere within the urban space.

Abstract: The present work is devoted to the study of broad physiological and ecological characteris- tics of anthropophytic species on the high step- pe lands of the Tlemcen region. The bioclimatic analysis confirms the development of drought in this region with a dominance of spiny and/or toxic asylvatic: plant species of shrub and her- baceous size species. We used correspondence factor analysis (CFA) of the various factors causing degradation to better understand the complexity of this ecosystem, whose floristic composition was complemented by means of soil measurements (spectrum green/ecological spectrum). This analysis allowed us to identify five groups of anthropophytic species with in this highly degraded matorral. We show that this ecosystem is already showing symptoms of de-gradation, and propose a preservation policy for protecting ensuring the survival of native species under threat from human activities.

Abstract: This paper is the next step of an ambitious program to develop conformally equivariant quantization on supermanifolds. This problem was considered so far in (super)dimensions 1 and 1|1. We will show that the case of several odd variables is much more difficult. We consider the supercircle S^{1|2} equipped with the standard contact structure. The conformal Lie superalgebra K(2) of contact vector fields on S^{1|2} contains the Lie superalgebra osp(2|2). We study the spaces of linear differential operators on the spaces of weighted densities as modules over osp(2|2). We prove that, in the non-resonant case, the spaces of second order differential operators are isomorphic to the corresponding spaces of symbols as osp(2|2)-modules. We also prove that the conformal equivariant quantization map is unique and calculate its explicit formula.

Abstract: The spaces of higher-order differential operators (in Dimension 1|2), which are modules over the stringy Lie superalgebra K(2), are isomorphic to the corresponding spaces of symbols as orthosymplectic modules in non resonant cases. Such an osp (2|2)-equivariant quantization, which has been given in second-order differential operators case, keeps existing and unique. We calculate its explicit formula that provides extension in particular order cases.

Abstract: This study is a simple and systematic approaches to the design of sliding mode controller for buck DC-DC converters. Various aspects of the design including the practical problems and the proposed solutions are detailed. However, these control strategies can not compensate for large load current and input voltage variations. In this study, a new control strategy by compromising both schemes advantages and avoiding their drawbacks is proposed, analyzed and simulated.

Abstract: This paper outlines the efforts of the OpenAIRE networking team to establish a Europe-wide open access initiative. OpenAIRE is an effort to realize the open access policies of the European Commission, and has built an infrastructure to support the widest possible dissemination of project results within a certain funding area, FP7. The purpose of the paper is to highlight how such a service can be established through the work of a successful network of European open access contacts and by effective communication with a range of stakeholders. The paper also outlines the flexible technical infrastructure and research activities within the project. Not without its challenges, the approach to tackling existing barriers, such as building repository interoperability, are explored. The paper also introduces the aims and initial activities of the continuation project, OpenAIREplus.
