Abstract:
Nowadays, the usage of mobile devices is progressively increased. Until, delay sensitive applications (Augmented Reality, Online Banking and 3D Game) are required lower delay while executed in the mobile device. Mobile Cloud Computing provides a rich resource environment to the constrained-resource mobility to run above mentioned applications, but due to long distance between mobile user application and cloud server introduces hybrid delay (i.e., network delay and process delay). To cope with the hybrid delay in mobile cloud computing for delay sensitive applications, we have proposed novel hybrid delay task assignment (HDWA) algorithm. The preliminary objective of the HDWA is to run the application on the cloud server in an efficient way that minimizes the response time of the application. Simulation results show that proposed HDWA has better performance as compared to baseline approaches.

Abstract: In this paper, we are investigating the power consumption of mobile device while performing offloading system. The offloading system is way in which mobile application can be divided into local and remote execution in order to alleviate the CPU energy consumption. However, existing offloading systems do not consider data transfer communication energy while performing mobile offloading system. They have just focused on mobile CPU energy consumption. In this paper, we are investigating the energy consumption mobile CPU and communication energy collaboratively while performing mobile offloading for complex application. To cope up with the above problem, we have proposed Energy Efficient Task Scheduler (EETS) algorithm, whose aim is to determine optimal tasks execution in offloading system in order to minimize mobile CPU and communication energy. Simulation results show that EETS outperforms as compared to baseline approaches.
SPONTANEOUS BACTERIAL PERITONITIS IN PATIENTS WITH CIRRHOSIS AND ASCITES

Abstract: Objective: To find out the frequency and clinical presentation ofspontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) in cirrhosis with ascites secondary to hepatitis c infection. Design: Descriptivestudy. Place and duration of study: Department of Medicine, Military Hospital, Rawalpindi, from September 2004 toFebruary 2005. Patients and methods: Fifty nine subjects with cirrhosis and ascites secondary to hepatitis c infectionwere included. Frequency of SBP with its presenting clinical features was determined. Mean ascitic fluid protein levelwas compared between SBP and non SBP groups. Child pugh class was determined in SBP subjects. P-value wascalculated by applying test of significance. Results: Out of fifty nine subjects, fourteen were having SBP. Abdominalpain / tenderness and jaundice were common presenting features in 78.57% and 64.28% of subjects respectively.Patients were asymptomatic in 7.14%. Mean ascitic fluid protein content was found to be low in SBP as compared tonon SBP patient's 1.41 gm% vs. 2.20 gm%. Conclusion: Because of heterogeneous clinical presentation, ascitic fluidshould be analyzed routinely in all patients admitted in hospital with cirrhosis and ascites.
Simultaneous Quantification of Ibuprofen and Paracetamol in Tablet Formulations Using Transmission Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy  [PDF]

Abstract: A very simple, non-destructive, inexpensive and green strategy was applied for the simultaneous determination of ibu-profen (IBP) and paracetamol (PC) using transmission Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy in tablet formulations for routine quality control laboratories. For the determination of the active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), KBr pellets containing known amount of standards and samples were used for acquisition of the FTIR spectra. The partial least squares (PLS) calibration model was developed using the spectral region from 1781 - 1683 cm-1 for IBP and 1630 - 1530 cm-1 for PC. The excellent coefficients of determination (R2), 0.9999 and 0.9998 were achieved for IBP and PC, respectively. The accuracy of calibration model was also verified through root mean square error of cross validation (RMSECV) which was found to be 0.064. This work clearly shows the capability of transmission FTIR spectroscopy for assessment of exact quantity of API to control the quality of finished products as well as during processing in pharmaceutical industries without involvement of any solvent.

Abstract: OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the early results of experience of ESWL to the effectiveness of Chineselithotriptor. PERIOD: From May 1999 to October 1999. SETTING: Almas Medical LithotripsyCenter, Larkana. RESULTS: Fifty patients having renal and upper ureteric stones were treatedwith Chinese lithotriptor. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The stone imaging and localizationwas done with the help of fluoroscope. The ages of the patients ranged from 10-52 years (average: 32 years).17(34%) were males and 33(66%) were females. Forty two patients had renal stones and 08 had upperureteric stones. Simple analgesic and sedation was used before the procedure on 1st sitting. The over all stonefree rate after 3 months of treatment was 78%. Five patients (10%) were dropped from the list because offailure of treatment. Remaining 6 patients (12%) showed partial fragmentation and residual stone in lowercalyx. We noticed few transient complications including colic and haematuria which were managed easily.CONCLUSION: We conclude that the Chinese lithotriptor was as effective as other lithotriptors. It is alsocost-effective.

Abstract: Benign prostatic hyperplasia is common disorder affecting the men beyond middle age. Various modes oftreatment e.g. watchful waiting, medical, conventional and endourological surgery are employed. Now adays various new minimal, invasive methods are getting popularity but TURP (Transuretheral Resection ofProstate) is still the gold standard method of treatment. From Oct 1994 to June 1998, TransuretheralResection of Prostate (TURP) was performed in 100 patients to see the response rate and complications inour set up. Clinically all patients suffered from Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and referred to us due toretention of urine and were already catheterized. Over all success response was seen in 96% of patients.Early and late complication rate observed was 23% and 13% respectively with 2% mortality rate. Weconcluded that TURP is the effective and safe endourological procedure with low morbidity.

Association Between Seminal Plasma Copper and Magnesium Levels with Oxidative Stress in Iraqi Infertile Men

Abstract: Objectives: To study the association between copper, magnesium and malondialdehyde levels in seminal plasma of oligozoospermic, azoospermic in relation to normozoospermic men.Methods: The present study was conducted at the Chemistry and Biochemistry department, College of Medicine, Al-Nahrain University, Baghdad-Iraq during September 2007 to February 2008 after obtaining approval from the research and ethics committee and obtaining written consent, 78 infertile men (age range 33.01±4.20 years) were recruited at the institute of embryo research and infertility treatment, Al-Kadhimiya teaching hospital, Iraq and were categorized according to their seminal fluid parameters to oligozoospermia (n=43) and azoospermia (n=35). 41 fertile men (age range 30.29±2.30 years) were selected as controls. Seminal plasma copper and magnesium were measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Malondialdehyde was measured calorimetrically using thiobarbituric acid assay which detects thiobarbituric acid reactive substances. Results: Seminal plasma copper level was decreased significantly (p=0.000) in the azoospermic group compared to the control group. Whereas, the level decreased non-significantly in the oligozoospermic group. Seminal plasma magnesium levels were decreased significantly (p=0.000) in all the infertility groups studied. On the other hand, malondialdehyde levels which is an end product of lipid peroxidation were significantly elevated (p=0.000) in all the infertility groups studied.Conclusion: Copper and magnesium work in different ways in order to maintain normal environment for spermatozoa for normal fertilization to occur.
Design and Implementation of an Investors Oriented Stocks Analysis/Forecasting System

Abstract: In this study we interacted with both stock brokers and investors on the floor of the Benin stock exchange in the course of which we used personal interviews and keen observation to garner the requirements for the intended system. We then proceeded to model the entire systems requirements using neural network because of its suitability. Used case diagram was used to capture the logic of stock analysis operation and the interaction between the investor and the stock broker. The design followed first with a table illustrating the behavior specification of the intended system and a unified modeling language class diagram depicting the major attributes and methods in the classes and the relationship between them. We implemented The system with Microsoft Visual Basic Dot Net at the front end, interfaced with Microsoft Structured Language Server at the back end and the systems testing achieved desired results.
Discovering Communities in Social Networks Through Mutual Accessibility

Abstract: Social network gains popularity due to its ease of use, as an application of Web 2.0 which facilitates users to communicate, interact and share on the World Wide Web. A Social network is a set of people or organizations or other social entities connected by a set of social relationships, such as friendship, co – working or information exchange. Social network analysis is the study of social networks to understand their structure and behavior. The study of networks is an active area of research due to its capability of modeling many real worldcomplex systems. One such interesting property to investigate in any typical network is the community structure which is the division of networks into groups. Discovering communities in a social network environment is graph partitioning problem. None of the existing methods discussed about knowing the nodes of the network mutually. Hence, we propose a new approach called“mutual accessibility”, to discover communities in a social network environment. We proved comparative study as results by taking both synthetic dataset and real datasets. There is a significant improvement in terms of accuracy and the number of communities discovered in the results obtained by this method.
