Improved Quantum-Behaved Particle Swarm Optimization  [PDF]

Abstract: To enhance the performance of quantum-behaved PSO, some improvements are proposed. First, an encoding method based on the Bloch sphere is presented. In this method, each particle carries three groups of Bloch coordinates of qubits, and these coordinates are actually the approximate solutions. The particles are updated by rotating qubits about an axis on the Bloch sphere, which can simultaneously adjust two parameters of qubits, and can automatically achieve the best matching of two adjustments. The optimization process is employed in the n-dimensional space [-1, 1]n, so this approach fits to many optimization problems. The experimental results show that this algorithm is superior to the original quantum-behaved PSO.

Abstract: In this paper, a novel neural network is proposed based on quantum rotation gate and controlled- NOT gate. Both the input layer and the hide layer are quantum-inspired neurons. The input is given by qubits, and the output is the probability of qubit in the state . By employing the gradient descent method, a training algorithm is introduced. The experimental results show that this model is superior to the common BP networks.

Abstract: This paper makes a case study of Sichuan Province where a large number of aging population lives. By the social investigation method, 350 aged community people are interviewed to discuss the conflict between supply and demand in the current home-based care service market and the problems arising out of the market-oriented operation. In addition, this paper brings about specific countermeasures and recommendations, with a view to give full play to the role of market- oriented mechanism in optimized allocation of resources, and to inspire participancy of various forces into home-based care service market, thus diversifying the home-based care service providers and provision modes in China, and greatly improving the QOL (quality of life) of the elderly.
Possible Trajectories of Agricultural Cropping Systems in China from 2011 to 2050  [PDF]

Predicting the possible impacts of future climate change on cropping systems can provide important theoretical support for reforming cropping system and adjusting the distribution of agricultural production in the future. The study was based on the daily data of future B2 climate scenario (2011-2050) and baseline climate condition (1961-1990) from high resolution regional climate model PRECIS (~50 km grid interval). According to climatic divisions of cropping systems in China, the active accumulated temperature stably passing the daily average temperature of 0°C, the extreme minimum temperature and the termination date passing the daily average temperature of 20°C which were justified by dominance as a limitation of different cropping systems in zero-grade zone were investigated. In addition, the possible trajectories of different cropping systems in China from 2011 to 2050 were also analyzed and assessed. Under the projected future B2 climate scenario, from 2011 to 2050, the northern boundaries of double cropping area and triple cropping area would move northward markedly. The most of the present double cropping area would be replaced by the different triple cropping patterns, while current double cropping area would shift towards areas presently dominated by single cropping systems. Thus the shift of multiple cropping areas would lead to a significant decrease of single cropping area. Compared with China’s land area, the percentage cover of single cropping area and double cropping area would decrease slowly, while percentage cover of triple cropping area would gradually increase.

Influence of Phase Compensation Method on Magnetizing Inrush Identification  [PDF]

The effect of different phase compensation methods on second harmonic ratio of magnetizing inrush is investigated. The flux linkage expression of switching on an unload transformer is deduced and influence factors of inrush current are analyzed firstly. Then the difference of two kinds of phase compensation methods, from star to delta and from delta to star connection, is compared. The second harmonic ratio of symmetric inrush is analyzed specially. Using inrush waveform of a real transformer, second harmonic ratio of phase inrush and that of differential current under two kinds of phase compensation methods are calculated respectively. Furthermore, based on the calculation results, the effect of two kinds of phase compensation methods on the inrush current identification is proved. The analysis and calculation results show that the second harmonic ratio of symmetric inrush caused by phase compensation method, from star to delta, is not low. Moreover, the split-phase blocking scheme should not be adopted for differential protection of from delta to star compensation. Using the phase current without compensation to calculate the ratio of second harmonic is inadvisable too.

A Quadratic Constraint Total Least-squares Algorithm for Hyperbolic Location  [PDF]

Abstract: A novel algorithm for source location by utilizing the time difference of arrival (TDOA) measurements of a signal received at spatially separated sensors is proposed. The algorithm is based on quadratic constraint total least-squares (QC-TLS) method and gives an explicit solution. The total least-squares method is a generalized data fitting method that is appropriate for cases when the system model contains error or is not known exactly, and quadratic constraint, which could be realized via Lagrange multipliers technique, could constrain the solution to the location equations to improve location accuracy. Comparisons of performance with ordinary least-squares are made, and Monte Carlo simulations are performed. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm has high location accuracy and achieves accuracy close to the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) near the small TDOA measurement error region.

Abstract: Nearly 80 years ago, scientist Otto Warburg observed that cancer cells perform energy metabolism in a way that is different from normal adult cells, so he originated a hypothesis that the cause of cancer is primarily a defect in energy metabolism [1]. With the mutational theory of carcinogenesis(including oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes) discovering, Warburg' theory has expressed shortage, but mitochondria engageing process of carcinogenesis become to highlight, Cavalli suggest that mitochondria impact carcinogenesis through mitochondrial DNA acting as transposable elements and modifying the genome, through mitochondrial maintenance of the tumorigenic phenotype, and through the role of mitochondria in apoptosis [2].Since the days of Warburg, studies have continued to show alterations of functional energy metabolism in cancer cells. The cancer cells look like to be function losed cells and only energy consuming cells, they survive just for surviving and proliferating. Among these differences are increased rate of glycolysis [3], and shifts in LDH isozyme patterns [4], and ceased production of functional proteins [5]. The high glycolysic rate maintained by proliferating cells and tumor cells may possibly be due to altered expression of enzymes [6]. Glycolysis may be stimulated by availability of ADP(a rate-limiting step), and it has been suggested that either inefficient ATPase activity(the Na+/K+ atpAse in Ehrlich ascites tumor cells) leading to increased ATP hydrolysis [7] or increased ATPase activity may contributed to the increased ADP levels [8]. In effect, the cancer cell almost stop using the citric acid cycle to get energy.In terms of the mitochondrial genome, there is some evidence for the transfer of mitochondrial DNA into the nuclear genome, even in the human cell [9]. There ie also abundant evidence for alteration of transcription rates for the mitochondrial genome in cancer cells [10]. Mitochondrial DNA may also be more susceptible to mutution [11].

Comparison of mantle-derived matierals from different spatiotemporal settings: Implications for destructive and accretional processes of the North China Craton

Abstract: Cratonic destruction or lithospheric thinning beneath North China makes it as one of the most ideal areas for the studying on the formation and evolution of continent. However, the mechanism, time, range and dynamic setting of the destruction, even the lithospheric status before the destruction, are contentious. The comparison among mantle xenoliths in the volcanic rocks from different captured times (e.g. Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic) and locations (e.g. intra-plate or its rim, the translithospheric Tanlu fault or the North-South Gravity Line), and peridotitic massifs within the Sulu-Dabie ultrahigh-pressure metamorphism belt along the southern margin of the North China Craton, indicates that (1) the cratonic lithosphere is heterogeneous in structure and composition, and contains mantle weak zones; and (2) the Mesozoic-Cenozoic lithospheric thinning process is complex, including lateral spreading of lithosphere, interaction between melt and peridotite, non-even asthenospheric erosion (huge lithospheric thinning), and the limited lithospheric accretion and thus thickening, which resulted in the final replacement of the refractory cratonic lithosphere by juvenile fertile mantle. In early Mesozoic, the integrity of the North China Craton was interrupted, even destroyed by subduction and collision of the Yangtze block. The mantle wedge of the North China Craton was also metasomatized and modified by melt/fluids revealed from the subducted Yangtze continent. Lithospheric mantle extension and tectonic intrusion of the North China Craton also occurred, accompanied by the asthenospheric upwelling that due to the detachement of the subducted Yangtze continent (orogenic root). During early Cretaceous-early Tertiary, the huge thinning of lithosphere was triggered by the upwelling asthenosphere due to the subduction of the Pacific plate. Since late Tertiary, the cooling of the upwelling asthenosphere resulted in the replacement of the mantle in existence by the newly accreted lithosphere, accompanied with a little thickness in lithosphere and thus finally achieved the lithospheric thinning as a whole. The translithospheric faults, such as the Tanlu fault, play excellent channels for asthenospheric upwelling. Meanwhile, the channels in lithosphere are usually irregular, which resulted in different eruption times of magma. Peridotite xenolith in the basalts erupted at 100 Ma is mainly fertile, indicating such a fact, that is, the mantle replacement occurred before the eruption (e.g. 125–100 Ma) beneath the eastern part of the North China Craton.
