Multi-Degree Reduction of Bézier Curves with Distance and Energy Optimization  [PDF]

Abstract:

In this paper, we propose a new approach to the problem of degree reduction of Bézier curves based on the given endpoint constraints. A differential term is added for the purpose of controlling the smoothness to a certain extent. Considering the adjustment of second derivative in curve design, a modified objective function including two parts is constructed here. One part is a kind of measure of the distance between original high order Bézier curve and degree-reduced curve. The other part represents the second derivative of degree-reduced curve. We tackle two kinds of conditions which are position vector constraint and tangent vector constraint respectively. The explicit representations of unknown points are presented. Some examples are illustrated to show the influence of the differential terms to approximation and smoothness effect.

Abstract: This paper uses FLUENT software building the three-dimensional unsteady state model of ground source heat pump single U and double U underground pipe to study on heat exchange of underground pipe system in the condition of unsteady state long-term continuous running, analyzes the change of soil temperature filed around underground pipe and performance of underground pipe heat exchange between single U and double U pipe system. The results show that double U pipe system is better than single U system, which can improve unit depth heat exchange efficiency, reduce the number of wells and reduce the initial investment.

Abstract:
On the Gamma ray reception study, this paper presents the heavy metal shielding method, which is using C type heavy metal to shield Sodium iodide scintillation crystal. By rotating the drilling tools to scan and detect the gamma ray which are around the borehole wall formation, On study of angle measurement study, base on accelerometers and fluxgate sensors to design the algorithm which can confirm the detecting instrument measurement window position; Moreover, the paper also presents the Rock formation identification method, which is using changing tendency and sequencing of high side and low side gamma to decide the position of the drilling tool. Field experiments showed that the tool can effectively identify the reservoir and rock formation.

Abstract: Solar thermal power is currently one of the important trends and research hotspots of solar energy. In present paper, basic physical model is proposed to investigate the solar thermal power, and the operating temperature is optimized to maximize the electricity generating efficiency. When the concentrated energy flux rises, the absorption efficiency of heat receiver will first increase and then decrease, while the increasing of flow velocity can improve the absorption performance. As the working temperature rising, the heat loss of infrared radiation and natural convection increases quickly, so the absorption efficiency obviously decreases, while the Carnot efficiency of the steam turbine cycle will rise. Because of the coupling effects of the heat absorption cycle and turbine cycle, the electricity generating efficiency will reach maximum with the optimal working temperature.

Abstract: The fact that offspring’s willingness to take over family business is extremely low is a severe problem hindering Chinese family businesses’ succession. This paper, based on behavioral decision-making theory and opportunity cost theory, identifies the decision-making attribute of offspring’s willingness to take over the business first, then explores and verifies the intervention effects of succession planning and temporal distance on such willingness. Experimental data from 135 samples indicate: offspring’s willingness to take over the business is significantly higher in the situation where parents develop a complete succession plan than in the situation where no succession plan is made; temporal distance moderates the effects of succession planning on offspring’s willingness. The study is supposed to provide theoretical evidence and practical suggestions for family business to promote offspring’s willingness to be the successor of family business.

Abstract: A simulation model of shipboard low voltage molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) is developed based on power system simulation software PSCAD/EMTDC. The motion characteristic of the magnetic instantaneous acting trip based on electromagnetic characteristic analysis and Cassie arc model are applied into the simulation model to describe the dynamic behavior of the MCCB
during short-circuit protection. The results of short-circuit interruption experiments verify the simulation model. It demonstrates that the simulation model has good prospect in optimizing the design and protection performance of MCCB.

Abstract: In order to protect the ROI (region of interest) characteristics while greatly improving medical imaging compression ratio, we are proposing an algorithm for medical imagining compression that is oriented to ROI-characteristics protection. Firstly, an improved ROI segmentation algorithm is put forward based on the analysis of the ROI segmentation. Then, after the ROI segmented, the ROI edge is extracted and encoded with Freeman chain coding. Finally, the ROI is compressed by lossless compression with shearlet; the ROB (region of background) is compressed by the method of high ratio lossy compression combining with Wavelet and Fractal. Simulation results show that the ROI is segmented precisely. It holds edge integrity and has high quality reconstruction processed by the presented method, helping protect ROI characteristics while greatly improving the compression ratio.

Abstract: This paper proposes a new neural algorithm to perform the segmentation of an observed scene into regions corresponding to different moving objects byanalyzing a time-varying images sequence. The method consists of a classificationstep, where the motion of small patches is characterized through an optimizationapproach, and a segmentation step merging neighboring patches characterized bythe same motion. Classification of motion is performed without optical flow computation, but considering only the spatial and temporal image gradients into anappropriate energy function minimized with a Hopfield-like neural network givingas output directly the 3D motion parameter estimates. Network convergence is accelerated by integrating the quantitative estimation of motion parameters with aqualitative estimate of dominant motion using the geometric theory of differentialequations.
Applications of a Three-Dimensional FDTD Method with Weakly Conditional Stability to the Analysis of Microstrip Filters with Fine Scale Structures

Abstract: In three-dimensional space, the hybrid implicit-explicit finite-difference time-domain (HIE-FDTD) method is weakly conditionally stable, only determined by two space-discretizations, which is very useful for problems with fine structures in one direction. Its numerical dispersion errors with nonuniform cells are discussed and compared in this paper. To enlarge the applicable field of the HIE-FDTD method to open space, the absorbing boundary conditions (ABCs) for this method are also introduced and applied. Two microstrip filters with fine scale structures in one direction are solved by the HIE-FDTD method. Conventional FDTD method and alternating-direction implicit FDTD (ADI-FDTD) method are also used for comparing. Results analyzed by the HIE-FDTD method agree well with those from conventional FDTD, and the required central process unit (CPU) time is much less than that of the ADI-FDTD method.
