Abstract: The scientific article presented here is intended to provide university teachers the theoretical basis for their work in the classroom, considering three principal theoretical learning paradigms: Behaviorism, cognitivism and constructivism; and four particular theories that have been labeled like constructivist (psychogenetic theory, meaningful learning theory, theory of strategic learning and the historical-cultural theory). Thus, this theoretical review provides guidelines to act in the university classroom that can lead to the elimination of “teaching without learning”.

Abstract: Perspectives on Free and Open Source SoftwareCambridge, MA: MIT Press, 2005538 pages, ISBN 0-262-06246-1Perspectives on Free and Open Source Software is a collection of articles by researchers, advocates and critics of the Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) movement and its way of building and distributing software. The book represents a serious attempt to assess the current state of FOSS and discuss its future.The volume is structured along 5 parts, some containing cohesive sets of articles, some loosely related ones. The three chapters that make up part 1 report on attempts to explain the FOSS phenomenon from the perspective of the psychology and sociology of its main actors. In particular, these articles try to explain what leads FOSS developers not to sell the software they create, but rather regard that software as free. The question appears to be framed initially in terms of explaining "free as in free beer" rather than "free as in freedom" [1], presumably in order to keep the attention of the business reader. However, detailed investigation soon reveals the complexities of the issue and the inadequacy of that frame of reference. Part 2 discusses issues relating to FOSS evaluation, where the term "evaluation" is used in a broader sense than in software engineering. The term here designates an attempt to ascertain not only the value of open source as a development methodology but its worth and long-term prospects as a movement. Three of the chapters address technical questions, including interesting discussions of the effects of public access to source code on security. The remaining three chapters contain analyses and (at times extravagant) responses to (similarly extravagant) claims about the inherent superiority of FOSS found in the literature, particularly those by Raymond [2]. Abstract: machado de assis wrote the 246 chronicles of the series "a semana" between 1892 and 1897. by then, he had already gone through many disappointments: brazilian drama did not yield good results in the model of the french realistic theatre; literature had not become a form of social intervention; and politics had become synonymous with moral crisis. machado then directed his attention to the chronicle, which would translate his thoughts about our urban life rituals. intrigued by cultural settings that eluded him, he decided to seek the psychosocial features of the brazilian people. this article presents some results of machado de assis's effort of to understand brazilianness.

Abstract: the conduct manuals and leaflets that were written specifically for women and that proliferated in colombia during the 19th century reveal the way women were educated and conditioned to follow a patriarchal model in their lives as daughters, girlfriends, wives and mothers. this article first looks at two examples of such manuals, consejos a una ni?a (1878) by jose maria vergara y vergara and consejos a angélica: obra dedicada a las ni?as cristianas (1887) by the poet silveria espinosa de los monteros de rendón (sopo, 1815- 1886) in order to discover the rules that were recommended to them and thus controlled women’s behavior. following, three novels of the same period are studied: dos religiones o mario y frinea (1884) and del colegio al hogar (1893) both by herminia gómez jaime de abadía (tunja, 1861-1926) and soledad: novela original (1893) by eva ceferina verbel y marea (cartagena, 1856-1900). these texts will be examined for their representations of feminine characters and they way the models and rules of conduct are reflected in the fiction of these less known authors.

Abstract: Las cartillas y manuales de conducta dirigidos a la mujer que proliferaron en Colombia en el siglo XIX nos muestran la manera como la mujer fue educada y condicionada a seguir un modelo patriarcal en su papel de hija, novia, esposa, y madre. Este artículo mira primero dos ejemplos de estos manuales de conducta, Consejos a una ni a (1878) de José María Vergara y Vergara (Bogotá, 1831- 1872) y Consejos a Angélica: obra dedicada a las ni as cristianas (1887) de la poeta Silveria Espinosa de los Monteros de Rendón (Sopo, 1815-1886) para descubrir los preceptos que estos recomendaban al deber ser femenino. Posteriormente, se estudian las siguientes novelas de la misma época: Dos religiones o Mario y Frinea (1884) y Del colegio al hogar (1893) ambas por Herminia Gómez Jaime de Abadía (Tunja, 1861-1926) y Soledad: novela original (1893) por Eva Ceferina Verbel y Marea (Cartagena, 1856-1900). En estos textos se examinan las representaciones de los personajes femeninos y la manera como los modelos de conducta se ven reflejados en la ficción de estas autoras poco conocidas.

Abstract: El artículo forma parte de una investigación en desarrollo sobre la dimensión socio-simbólica de los procesos culturales de Los Andes Venezolanos. En el mismo se presenta una primera aproximación al estudio de las representaciones sociales del tiempo a partir de la reproducción de la vida material y espiritual de los habitantes del páramo de Mucuchíes se alando el proceso de transformación cultural que se produce cuando los parameros comienzan a migrar de los altos valles hasta los centros urbanos más primados. Desde el método, se introduce un modo de recoger las voces y silencios como datos aportados por la conversación y el contacto con la gente del lugar a partir de dos ejes (temporal y espacial) cuya ruta va formando un mapa del trayecto de vida (Pargas, 2005).

Abstract: We derive spectral sum rules for a system with two quarks coupled to an imaginary isospin chemical potential in the \epsilon regime. The sum rules show an explicit dependence on the pion decay constant which should make it possible to measure F_pi from the eigenvalue spectrum of this particular Dirac operator.
Balancing Feed-Forward Excitation and Inhibition via Hebbian Inhibitory Synaptic Plasticity

Abstract: It has been suggested that excitatory and inhibitory inputs to cortical cells are balanced, and that this balance is important for the highly irregular firing observed in the cortex. There are two hypotheses as to the origin of this balance. One assumes that it results from a stable solution of the recurrent neuronal dynamics. This model can account for a balance of steady state excitation and inhibition without fine tuning of parameters, but not for transient inputs. The second hypothesis suggests that the feed forward excitatory and inhibitory inputs to a postsynaptic cell are already balanced. This latter hypothesis thus does account for the balance of transient inputs. However, it remains unclear what mechanism underlies the fine tuning required for balancing feed forward excitatory and inhibitory inputs. Here we investigated whether inhibitory synaptic plasticity is responsible for the balance of transient feed forward excitation and inhibition. We address this issue in the framework of a model characterizing the stochastic dynamics of temporally anti-symmetric Hebbian spike timing dependent plasticity of feed forward excitatory and inhibitory synaptic inputs to a single post-synaptic cell. Our analysis shows that inhibitory Hebbian plasticity generates ‘negative feedback’ that balances excitation and inhibition, which contrasts with the ‘positive feedback’ of excitatory Hebbian synaptic plasticity. As a result, this balance may increase the sensitivity of the learning dynamics to the correlation structure of the excitatory inputs.
Las uniones maritales, los diferenciales salariales y la brecha educativa en Colombia

Abstract: colombia young women (from the 1980 cohort) are more educated than men, reversing the education gap. this change has not resulted in a relative increase in the salaries of the women. the educational decision of individuals depends not only on changes in labor market conditions but also on market conditions in the marriage such marital unions and the relative size of the population by gender. thus, this paper seeks to establish the relative importance and quantity of labor market factors and the marriage market on the change in the educational gap in colombia. with that goal i use three quantitative approaches, the first one is the assortative matching in time, showing that in colombia most individuals marriage with people with similar educational levels. additionally, through a pseudo-panel by city from 1984 to 2006 shows that asymmetries in the population by gender, especially the increasing number of women reverse the educational gap. finally, the decomposition of oaxaca and ransom inferred that only one of the two channels would not have achieved a reversal in the achievement gap, but both markets are required.
