Different architectures of collagen fibrils enforce different fibrillogenesis mechanisms  [PDF]

Abstract: According to current knowledge on collagen fibril-logenesis, collagen fibrils are formed by a cooperative process involving lateral fusion of small protofibrils. Almost all the experimental research, however, was carried out on tendon collagen, whose fibrils are characterized by approximately straight subfibrils. By contrast, in most tissues the collagen fibril sub-units follow a helical course in which geometrical constraints prevent lateral fusions, thereby implying a different mechanism where collagen fibrils grow by addition of individual microfibrils rather than by lateral fusion of pre-assembled subfibrils. The proc-ess at the origin of these fibrils may provide a simple, automatic explanation for the remarkable uniformity in fibrils size observed in most tissues without re-quiring the intervention of unknown mechanisms of diameter control. Other mechanisms of growth con-trol remain indispensable to terminate the fibril-logenesis process in tendons and ligaments.

Abstract:

The new field of mitochondrial filamentation and its first potential applications are just getting underway (1-7), following a series of pilot experiments in our laboratory over the past few decades (8-14). I should like to give a brief overview of the role that some new methods are playing in this emerging area of physiological bioenergetics, supported by a few references to our contributions as I scarcely have the faculties now to understand other specific contributions. This new field is brimming with promises for medicine, science and society, in general. I cannot and must not be concrete or comprehensive, because I honestly feel that it is now that matters are really beginning to take off, assisted by the most appropriate international capabilities.

Abstract:

The contribution of the author’s groups on the control of energy metabolism of cancer cells has been concisely reviewed. It is proposed that Otto Warburg’s “respiratory defect” of tumoral cells resides in an alteration of the recurrent filamentation cycle of mitochondria. These give those organelles an affinity lower for ADP than the affinity of the tumor cell isoenzyme of pyruvate kinase. These two findings may explain the essentials of the intimate mechanism of the aerobic glycolysis of cancer cells.

Abstract:

Essential bibliography, with therein references included, is presented owing to the contribution of the author groups to Mitochondrial Filamentation, which is a new emerging field of physiological energy metabolism. These studies provide the first seed concept for trials to extend the metabolic life, for a few days, in low order laboratory mammals killed by electrocution, as a first type of accidental death. It is proposed, essentially, to cool out the corpses very soon after death at 12oC-14oC and take advantage of the effect super magnetism to counteract the force of gravity to install a net recurrent cycle of oxygen consumption and oxygen production by filamented mitochondria in all the organism tissues. Once the cause of death had been corrected adequately, it is possible to try the reanimation to experience the full life of the corpse with highly sophisticated methodology.

Abstract:

The title of this little assay coins three new words: Pre-Chelates, Post-Adducts and Implexes. These, very daring new excursions into the scientific English language, come from the developments of Quelamycin and Sodium L-Thioproline, through our different group studies arriving to cancer reversal by a dual strategy. It is enough to read all our published materials, cites and related papers, dealing more or less with the chemistry and possible mechanism of action of these compounds, to gather somewhat what signified our monomeric-triferric-doxorubicine, as possibly one of the first Pre-Chelates and our Sodium L-Thioproline, probably as one of the first Post-Adducts. Both molecules come to the human patients with cancer blood from the exterior. After this indication, it will be proposed a seed concept of a new type of molecules, the “Implexes” in which the metals will be embraced instead of being linked.

Abstract:

I present herewith a concise historic account of our development of the new technique for cancer therapy: Reversal of Cancer by Dual Strategy. This new method is based on the possible correction of the mitochondrial filamentation defect of tumors plus minor cytotoxicity addressed to the anoxic and fagocitic tumors redoubts, using the administration of the anticancer agents with a chrono-therapeutic emphasis on the patients mobility. Such methods probably will reach patients in the near future with the collaboration of private clinical trials mainly at least in the USA, Europe and Japan. Only the more essential references of this effort are provided.

Abstract:

The author, concisely and generically, proposes experimental testing on suitable laboratory animals, in state-of-the-art international centers endowed with cancer reversal experimental techniques. Using mild carcinogens to induce more or less benign growths can be reversed back to a normal state by single or dual strategy: in spinal paralysis by medullar contusion in young rabbits; for blindness caused by the severing of the optic nerve in sheep; for neural deafness caused by severing the acoustic nerve in rabbits. If these techniques could be shown to be feasible and successful for higher order primates and if having then already cured for life a sufficient number of malignant cancers by cancer reversal by dual strategy in human beings, of course these methods could be then considered for patients.

Abstract: First of all, the essay is about the media’s redundant emphasis on risks and the elitist specious creation of collective worries, in particular with relation to the criminal phenomenon, presenting the results of criminological researches that validate the empirical demonstration of the media representation’s artificiality of criminal risk. The second part of the essay is dedicated to the influence of the media representation on the legislative choices of criminal politics, in particular in the actual contexts of the so-called “liquid democracy” developed around the new media, focusing the attention on the risks that it might involve with reference to the violation of some fundamental principles in the democratic modern systems. The conclusion is dedicated to the criminal law culture in a possible process of criminal-political paideia adapted to democratic and mass media postmodern needs, trying to track the ontological content of the minimum levels of knowledge of the citizens, such as the internalization of those fundamental values that constitute the ethos of the contemporary civil society.

Abstract: The mass-energy equation \"\"?is derived in general from Newton’s equation of motion without use of electrodynamics, or Einstein’s Postulates which were presented in his superb 1905 paper on Special Relativity (SR). This was previously not thought to be possible. This novel derivation of an accelerated body of rest mass m0 is compared with the traditional SR inertial derivation. A discussion is given of pre-1905, electrostatic and electrodynamic derivations of the mass-energy relation yielding \"\", as well as more recent ones. A concise pre-relativity history of the mass-energy relation is traced back to Newton in 1717.
