Impureza e perigo para povos de floresta
Panzutti, Nilce Migueles;
Ambiente & Sociedade , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-753X1999000200006
Abstract: this paper analyses associations between: social conceptions of abjection and sexual differentiation; women's physiological states and nature; transition states and power. it makes use of two authors' approaches of the panema and reima complexes in two different forest societies. the analytical exercise points out the symbolic character and its effectiveness for the establishment of borders, boundaries, hierarchies and social control. it brings to the fore a critical reading of events and meanings, observing current divisions and social contradictions regarding cultural structures that indicate woman's place in social hierarchy.
Typicality and misinformation: Two sources of distortion
Karlos Luna,Malen Migueles
Psicológica , 2008,
Abstract: This study examined the effect of two sources of memory error: exposure to post-event information and extracting typical contents from schemata. Participants were shown a video of a bank robbery and presented with highand low-typicality misinformation extracted from two normative studies. The misleading suggestions consisted of either changes in the original video information or additions of completely new contents. In the subsequent recognition task the post-event misinformation produced memory impairment. The participants used the underlying schema of the event to extract high-typicality information which had become integrated with episodic information, thus giving rise to more hits and false alarms for these items. However, the effect of exposure to misinformation was greater on low-typicality items. There were no differences between changed or added information, but there were more false alarms when a low-typicality item was changed to a high-typicality item

In this article, the author discusses the theorethical and methodological difficulties that surrounds the study of organizational culture. It is argued that a more substantial progress has not been made in this field due to an inadequate separation of the objets and methods of study of anthropology and sociology, on one side, and psychology, on the other. This confusion of spheres has been causing a persistent difficulty on the definition of the object of analysis and consequently on the production of valid research results.

Influence of the typicality of the actions in a mugging script on retrieval-induced forgetting

Abstract: memory tests are frequently used to measure the effectiveness of an advertisement. however, as different tests provide different kinds of information it is important to know which type of test is the most appropriate. the main objective of this investigation was to study the effect of different memory tests on the number of brands recalled and the level of interest generated by them. a group of participants wrote down all the brands of any kind of product that they remembered having seen advertised (free recall test) and rated their interest in each brand. subsequently, the participants were given a list of 27 categories and wrote down the brands they associated with the categories (cued recall test) and also rated their level of interest. the results showed that although the participants generated more brand names with the cued recall test, the brand names mentioned in the free recall test generated greater interest. these results highlight the importance of choosing the correct memory test to measure the effect of publicity.

Abstract: This article’s objective is to better understand the elements of informal coordination in the management of high performance teams acting in complex and unpredictable scenarios. We present the results of an empirical study in a police special operations unit. We conducted a qualitative and quantitative research, respectively though oral history, in-depth interviews and survey. Our results show that the sense of a common mission, trust relationships and leadership quality are central elements to better explain informal coordination. We observed higher levels of trust between peers, as compared with trust in superiors and teams, as a fundamental constitutive element of the power of the bond found among members. Our analyses also indicate strong relationships between trust in superiors and affective and normative commitment, and the importance of loyalty and pride in membership.
