Child’s Life, Step-Family and Decision-Making Process  [PDF]
Susana Navas Navarro
Beijing Law Review (BLR) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/blr.2013.42008
Abstract:

Step-families are included within the concept of “family” used by both Art. 8 of the Rome Convention for the protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and Art. 7 of the European Charter of Fundamental Rights of 2010. According to the OECD and EUROSTAT figures children that are living in step-families are between 8 and 12 years old, that is, they could be considered as preadolescents or in some cases adolescents at all. Thus, they are individuals with a certain grade of maturity that allow them to form their own views and express them. Today, there is an inevitable link between family and children’s participation rights (Art. 12 CRC; Art. 24 EU Charter). Nevertheless, European Law refers to the step-family from the “adult’s rights” viewpoint concerning the assignment of the parental responsibility to the step-parent neglecting children’s perspective. As said by Art. 6(1) EU Treaty of Lisbon and by Art. 52(2) EU Charter, the last legal instrument has the same legal recognition as the EU Treaties, which implies that the bedrock for direct and vertical application of the fundamental rights of children by both the EUCJ and national Courts is settled. Since 2006 one of the strategic objectives of the communitarian institutions is prioritizing the effective implementation of children’s rights.

Automorphisms of classical geometries in the sense of Klein
Alberto Navarro,Jose Navarro
Mathematics , 2009,
Abstract: In this note, we compute the group of automorphisms of Projective, Affine and Euclidean Geometries in the sense of Klein. As an application, we give a simple construction of the outer automorphism of S_6.
On the uniqueness of the Gauss-Bonnet-Chern formula (after Gilkey-Park-Sekigawa)
A. Navarro,J. Navarro
Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: On an oriented Riemannian manifold, the Gauss-Bonnet-Chern formula asserts that the Pfaffian of the metric represents, in de Rham cohomology, the Euler class of the tangent bundle. Hence, if the underlying manifold is compact, the integral of the Pfaffian is a topological invariant; namely, the Euler characteristic of the manifold. In this paper we refine a result originally due to Gilkey that characterizes this formula as the only (non-trivial) integral of a differential invariant that is independent of the underlying metric.
Lovelock's theorem revisited
Alberto Navarro,Jose Navarro
Mathematics , 2010, DOI: 10.1016/j.geomphys.2011.05.004
Abstract: Let (X, g) be an arbitrary pseudo-riemannian manifold. A celebrated result by Lovelock gives an explicit description of all second-order natural (0,2)-tensors on X, that satisfy the conditions of being symmetric and divergence-free. Apart from the dual metric, the Einstein tensor of g is the simplest example. In this paper, we give a short and self-contained proof of this theorem, simplifying the existing one by formalizing the notion of derivative of a natural tensor.
Dimensional curvature identities on pseudo-Riemannian geometry
Alberto Navarro,Jose Navarro
Mathematics , 2013, DOI: 10.1016/j.geomphys.2014.10.001
Abstract: The curvature tensor of a pseudo-Riemannian metric, and its covariant derivatives, satisfy certain identities that hold on any manifold of dimension less or equal than $n$. In this paper, we re-elaborate recent results by Gilkey-Park-Sekigawa regarding $p$-covariant dimensional curvature identities, for $p=0,2$. To this end, we use the classical theory of natural operations, that allows us to simplify some arguments and to generalize the description of Gilkey-Park-Sekigawa. Thus, our main result describes the first space of $p$-covariant dimensional curvature identities, for any even $p$.
Emoción, Teoría Social y Estructura Social
Navarro,Rolando;
Frónesis , 2007,
Abstract: in his book emotion, social theory, and social structure (cambridge university press, 2001), the author, jack m. barbalet, reader in sociology at the australian national university, takes sociology in a new direction. it examines key aspects of social structure using afresh understanding of the categories of emotions. through this synthesis, original perspectives on rationality, class structure, social action, conformity, basic rights and social change emerge. in addition to giving an innovative view of social processes, j.m. barbalet′s study reveals littleconsidered aspects of emotions such as fear, resentment, vengefulness, shame and confidence in the context of social structure. while much has been written about the social consequences of excessive and pathological emotions, this book demonstrates the centrality of emotions in routine social interactions. dr. barbalet also re-evaluates the nature of social theory. as the importance of emotions in social processes is revealed more clearly, the intellectual constitution of sociology, as well as its history, must be rethought.
Inteligencia intuitiva de Malcolm Gladwell
Navarro,Rolando;
Frónesis , 2007,
Abstract: in his book blink. the power of thinking without thinking, the author, malcolm gladwell, using the latest knowledge in the fields of psychology and neurology and a fresh and entertaining style, answers questions such as: why are some people brilliant at making decisions and others are not? why do some follow their instincts and succeed while others always end up taking false steps? what is the real brain process involved in performance at work (be it operating room, court of law or symphony orchestra), at school, in the kitchen or in bed? intuitive intelligence reveals that those who are good at making decisions are not those who process more information or dedicate more time to deliberations, but those who have perfected the craft of making fine connections, of extracting a few factors that are really important from a web of variables in only a fraction of a second. this is what gladwell calls, echoing psychologist t. wilson, calling on our adaptive unconscious.
Las traducciones como fuentes para la prensa en el siglo XIX: el caso de la Gaceta de Caracas
Navarro,Aura;
íkala, Revista de Lenguaje y Cultura , 2010,
Abstract: objective: to study the influence of translations published in the caracas gazette (gaceta de caracas) during independence and the first republic of venezuela. method: the study consisted of three stages: 1) identification of translations; 2) comparative analysis between source texts (sts) and target texts (tts); and 3) analysis of translation strategies. results: english is the most translated language in the gazette, given that the majority of source texts were taken from american and british newspapers. the content of the translations is largely political; all translations are anonymous. we observed the use of summary and periphrasis; literal translation was also a frequently used translation technique. notably, appropriation was utilized as a translation strategy in half of the translations. conclusions: translation in the caracas gazette contributed to the consolidation of venezuelan independence and the creation of the first republic of venezuela due to the use of appropriation combined with the political purposes of the translators.
Estudios de exploración geoeléctrica sobre la Formación Marifil entre Puerto Madryn y Telsen (provincia de Chubut)
Navarro,Edgardo;
Geoacta , 2008,
Abstract: geomorphological studies between puerto madryn (42 o 30 s y 65o 00′ w) and telsen (42 o 40′ s y 67o 00′ w) are carried out in an attempt to know the evolution of the landscape from the jurassic period. volcanic rocks of the marifil formation are the main outcrops in the area, constitute the basement in the area and their exposures form hills which tend to align in a north-south direction. in this study, where the marifil formation is covered with sedimentary deposits, a geoelectrical prospection was made. in order to determine the thickness of the sedimentary cover, the variation in the morphology and the depth of the basement, sixteen vertical electrical soundings (ves) were done. a schlumberger tetraelectrodic configuration was used for each ves and the sounding curves were interpreted automatically through an iterative process. geoelectrical layer models were obtained and the error considered was always less than 2.5%. for the geological interpretation of each geoelectrical model, both the geological information of the area and the data from an exploration hole were considered, whose electrical logging and litology were used for the parametric reference of the soundings. these models allowed to define the variations in the thickness of the sedimentary fill, which reaches in some sites up to 174 m. a geoelectrical cross section located south of telsen showed a progressive deeping of the basement toward the south.
Existe uma terceira via? uma resposta à "terceira via" de Giddens
Navarro, Vicente;
Lua Nova: Revista de Cultura e Política , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-64451999000300010
Abstract: the book by anthony giddens proposing a "third way" to be adopted by contemporary societies is discussed, it is hold that giddens' positions are less original than he supposes, and at several points are similar to well-established proposals of the continental christian democracy.
