Warming Power of CO2 and H2O: Correlations with Temperature Changes  [PDF]

Abstract: The dramatic and threatening environmental changes announced for the next decades are the result of models whose main drive factor of climatic changes is the increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Although taken as a premise, the hypothesis does not have verifiable consistence. The comparison of temperature changes and CO2 changes in the atmosphere is made for a large diversity of conditions, with the same data used to model climate changes. Correlation of historical series of data is the main approach. CO2 changes are closely related to temperature. Warmer seasons or triennial phases are followed by an atmosphere that is rich in CO2, reflecting the gas solving or exsolving from water, and not photosynthesis activity. Interannual correlations between the variables are good. A weak dominance of temperature changes precedence, relative to CO2 changes, indicate that the main effect is the CO2 increase in the atmosphere due to temperature rising. Decreasing temperature is not followed by CO2 decrease, which indicates a different route for the CO2 capture by the oceans, not by gas re-absorption. Monthly changes have no correspondence as would be expected if the warming was an important absorption-radiation effect of the CO2 increase. The anthropogenic wasting of fossil fuel CO2 to the atmosphere shows no relation with the temperature changes even in an annual basis. The absence of immediate relation between CO2 and temperature is evidence that rising its mix ratio in the atmosphere will not imply more absorption and time residence of energy over the Earth surface. This is explained because band absorption is nearly all done with historic CO2 values. Unlike CO2, water vapor in the atmosphere is rising in tune with temperature changes, even in a monthly scale. The rising energy absorption of vapor is reducing the outcoming long wave radiation window and amplifying warming regionally and in a different way around the globe.

Abstract: This article delivers a brief contribution to the debate about the Euro crisis. With that purpose it lists the objectives, interests and power relations underlined by the main political actors by the time of the introduction of monetary cooperation within the field of European construction. It begins with a reference to the first experiments of monetary cooperation between European countries—with the so-called European Snake, and later the European Monetary System—which were intended to protect the common market from the turmoil caused by the collapse of the international monetary system. It also addresses the adoption of the economic and monetary union by the Treaty of Maastricht, the creation of the single currency and the first attempt to control fiscal policy with the Stability and Growth Pact. Then it concentrates on the crisis affecting the Eurozone, initiated with the Greek sovereign debt crisis. It starts with a reference to core Euro countries early reaction to the crisis, to continue with the measures adopted to support the Euro system, before discussing what would be the much needed firewalls that could deter financial attacks. The final sections are devoted to the Fiscal Treaty, and to the impact of crisis management on the European Union balance of powers.

Abstract: The structural and electronic properties of molybdenum and magnesium substitution doping in (10,0) boron nitride nanotube (BNNT), are investigated through first-principle calculations. The electronic band structures results indicate that the molybdenum doped systems behave as n-type impurity. However, the magnesium doped systems behave as p-type impurity when magnesium replaces boron, and as a n-type impurity when the magnesium replaces nitrogen. The analysis of the energies formation shows that the molybdenum replacing a boron and nitrogen atoms are more favorable than the magnesium substitution in boron and nitrogen.

Abstract: in the context of two different cultures - print culture and electronic culture, or cyberculture -, this article seeks a clearer comprehension of literacy opposing typographic and digital technologies of reading and writing. through the differences regarding the writing space and the mechanisms of producing, reproducing and diffusing ideas, it argues that different kinds of literacy - that is, different social, cognitive and discursive effects - have resulted from such different modalities of written communication. since literacy is not a single, homogeneous phenomenon, it finally suggests this word should be used in its plural rather than singular form: literacies.

Abstract: this paper analyzes love/sexual pedagogies produced by the media culture, specifically in a dating show called fica comigo aired by mtv. the target public of this show, like all the programs on mtv, is young people. it is directed to youths that search for a boyfriend or girlfriend. those who attempt to meet a partner in the show are called sweethearts. those who compete for a sweetheart are called interested candidates. the present work aims at examining fica comigo critically, from the following questions: how is a love/sexual pedagogy constituted in this show? which rituals, languages, behaviors, and practices are working in the meetings of young people in fica comigo? what could the show suggest about love/sexual practices of youths in contemporaneity?

Abstract: the goal of this study is to discuss the investments made by the brazilian government to expand health care service delivery in the unified national health system (sus) from 1995 to 2001. the data indicate a mismatch between investments to increase service delivery and maintenance and optimization of the health service network's capacity. the paper concludes that there is a need to guarantee financial maintenance of the system and conduct new investments based on an analysis of the installed capacity and the financial possibilities to guarantee resources for continuous delivery of this additional services supply.

Abstract: this article pretends to make a contribution to the analysis of the relationship between gender and hydric resources, the specific problems of women in relation to water, based on a comprehension of the logic behind the articulation strategies of marginalized families regarding water. here the forms of access, supply, management and control of the water for rural domestic units in an indigenous community in san juan chamula, a municipality in the los altos region of chiapas, will be analyzed, in order to reflect on alternatives aimed at supporting the active participation of women in decision making processes on water management in the community, contributing in this way to the construction of sustainable local development.

Abstract: describes how the concepts of literacy and initial reading instruction developed in brazilian education throughout the last two decades, characterising this development as a progressive invention of the word and concept of literacy and a concomitant dis-invention of the concept of initial reading instruction, which lost its specific characteristics, bringing about a new type of school failure: the serious reading and writing difficulties among students at advanced levels of schooling. the text discusses the causes of this phenomenon and stresses the need to distinguish clearly between initial reading instruction and literacy, so that each process is seen as specific and, at the same time, as associated with and dependent on the other. the present situation is characterised as an attempt to re-invent initial reading instruction, meaning not a turning back to past methodologies, but as a recovery of the distinctive features of the initial reading instruction process in its multiple facets, guaranteeing at the same time its integration with the literacy process.

Abstract: einstein's static model is the first relativistic cosmological model. the model is static, finite and of spherical spatial symmetry. i use the solution of einstein's field equations in a homogeneous and isotropic universe friedmann's equation -to calculate the radius of curvature of the model (also known as einstein's universe). furthermore, i show, using a newtonian analogy, the model's mostly known feature, namely, its instability under small perturbations on the state of equilibrium.

Abstract: the sports system law framework of autonomous region of madeira5 argues that school sports should be developed in articulation with the federated sport. the study carried out and presented hereunder had two main objectives: to determine if the teachers involved in school sports positions in madeira were also involved in the federated sector and also to identify their perceptions concerning the relationship that should exist between both sectors. the sample covered a total of 255 participants, representing 98% of the universe of teachers in school sports. the questionnaire used to collect the data was put together departing from the study of correia & rosado4 and adapted to madeira in accordance with its programme of activities7. data was processed with spss and the independence non-parametric technique of the chi-square (p=0.05). the results show a total of 117 teachers (45.9%) involved in the federated sector, and the positions of coach and football modality were the ones that scored the highest percentages, 73.5% and 30.7% respectively. the majority of the respondents (51.8%) think there should be a closer relationship, in the form of articulation and cooperation between the federated and school sector, against 24.7% who do not agree with this point of view, and 21.2% who chose not to express their position. the results also show significant differences between the group of teachers who were linked to federated sport and the group of teachers who had no connection with it (p=0.003). furthermore, from the 124 teachers who were not involved in the federal sector, 54 (43.5%) are in favour of a closer relationship between both sectors. in conclusion, the results suggest greater coordination and cooperation between the federated and school sectors.
