Chiral Current in a Graphene Battery  [PDF]
Hector Torres-Silva, Diego Torres Cabezas
Journal of Electromagnetic Analysis and Applications (JEMAA) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jemaa.2012.410059
Abstract: We review the formulation of graphene’s massless Dirac equation, under the chiral electromagnetism approach, hopefully demystifying the material’s unusual chiral, relativistic, effective theory. In Dirac’s theory, many authors replace the speed of light by the Fermi velocity, in this paper we deduce that in graphene the Fermi velocity is obtained from the connection between the electromagnetic chirality and the fine structure constant when the electric wave E is quasi parallel to the magnetic wave H. With this approach we can consider the properties of electric circuits involving graphene or Weyl semimetals. The existence of the induced chiral magnetic current in a graphene subjected to magnetic field causes an interesting and unusual behavior of such circuits. We discuss an explicit example of a circuit involving the current generation in a “chiral battery”. The special properties of this circuit may be utilized for creating “chiral electronic” devices.
Chiral Seismic Attenuation with Acoustic Metamaterials  [PDF]
Hector Torres-Silva, Diego Torres Cabezas
Journal of Electromagnetic Analysis and Applications (JEMAA) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jemaa.2013.51003
Abstract:

We study the analogy between the linear elasticity theory equations and classical Maxwell equation with chiral effects and we propose a new method of an earthquake-resistant design to support conventional aseismic designs using acoustic metamaterials. We suggest a simple and practical method to reduce the amplitude of a seismic wave exponentially. Our device is like an attenuator of a chiral seismic wave. Constructing a cylindrical shell-type waveguide that creates a stop-band for the chiral seismic wave, we can convert the wave into an evanescent wave for some frequency range without touching the building we want to protect.

The messier objects as a tool in teaching astronomy  [PDF]
Jesus Rodrigo F. Torres
Natural Science (NS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ns.2013.53044
Abstract:

The French astronomer Charles Messier (1730- 1817) compiled a catalogue [1] of astronomical objects which reached109 innumber after additions by later astronomers were added. The catalogue contains galaxies, emission nebulae, a supernova remnant, a double star, globular clusters, open clusters, an asterism, a star cloud, and planetary nebulae. While the objective of Messier in compiling the catalogue was to guide comet hunters not to be confused by his objects which he thought looked like comets [2], the Messier Catalogue as it later became known became a standard guide to astronomers for a study of the sky’s “greatest hits” or the best samples of objects which can be observed and studied. This paper explores the value of the Messier Catalogue in the teaching of Astronomy and Earth Science. The range of objects is wide and contains some of the best examples of their type. The teaching method I propose is the actual observations of the objects through a telescope, with the corresponding explanation. Some principles which will be covered through this process are stellar evolution from the birth and death of stars, galaxy types, formation of galaxies, galactic interactions, life in the Universe, cosmology, and our place in the Universe.

Chiral Dirac Equation Derived From Quaternionic Maxwell’s Systems  [PDF]
Hector Torres-Silva
Journal of Electromagnetic Analysis and Applications (JEMAA) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jemaa.2013.53017
Abstract:

In the present article we propose a simple equality involving the Dirac operator and the Maxwell operators under chiral approach. This equality establishes a direct connection between solutions of the two systems and moreover, we show that it is valid when the natural relation between the frequency of the electromagnetic wave and the energy of the Dirac particle is fulfilled if the electric field E is parallel to the magnetic field H. Our analysis is based on the quaternionic form of the Dirac equation and on the quaternionic form of the Maxwell equations. In both cases these reformulations are completely equivalent to the traditional form of the Dirac and Maxwell systems. This theory is a new quantum mechanics (QM) interpretation. The below research proves that the QM represents the electrodynamics of the curvilinear closed chiral waves. It is entirely according to the modern interpretation and explains the particularities and the results of the quantum field theory. Also this work may help to clarify the controversial relation between Maxwell and Dirac equations while presenting an original way to derive the Dirac equation from the chiral electrodynamics, leading, perhaps, to novel conception in interactions between matter and electromagnetic fields. This approach may give a reinterpretation of Majorana equation, neutrino mass, violation of Heinsenberg’s measurement-disturbation relationship and mass generation in systems like graphene devices.

Business Process Reengineering in Government Agencies: Lessons from an Experience in Mexico  [PDF]
Jaime Torres Fragoso
Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2015.83040
Abstract: This paper is based on the findings from two research projects in the Mexican port subsector and shows evidence that business process reengineering is a viable tool for government reform in Latin America. The paper opens with a brief description of New Public Management (NPM), a model used in recent efforts for state reform in the region of Latin America. The modernization of Mexican ports is based on the NPM paradigm. The following section includes a definition of business process reengineering, its methodology and relevance for the public sector. Subsequently, the development of the projects is outlined, including their main objectives and justification, the methodology used, the participating employees, and the results achieved. The findings of these projects are both significant and thought-provoking. The paper concludes with a series of recommendations for the implementation of business process reengineering in the public sector.
Rasgos perennes de la crisis alimentaria en México
Torres Torres, Felipe;
Estudios sociales (Hermosillo, Son.) , 2010,
Abstract: the food crisis that took place in mexico in 2008, which was reflected in the increase of international prices of staples, was not a new phenomenon. it was directly related to the accentuation of a structural problem represented by an insufficiency in agricultural supply at domestic level. this shortage presents asymmetries in access to food products, and has strong repercussions in people's nutritional situation. the truth is that it was the first large crisis in the context of free market that intensified itself as an effect of the global economic recession, in addition to the accumulated deterioration in the purchasing capacity of nearly half of the mexican population.

Through the study of Bernardo Fernandezs novel “Tiempo de Alacranes” and Gabriel Trujillo!s “Puesta en escena”, and based on Michel Foucault!s ideas on the relations of power, this study goes though the ways these join together in Mexican narcotraf c. In this sense, the article backs-up the idea that the relations of power are based on two concepts: practice of strategies and mobility.

Abstract: ENGLISH:Freedom topic is examined from attitudes adopted by Joaquín Monegro, a character from Miguel de Unamuno novel Abel Sánchez. Those attitudes are held on throughout the novel plot. This character lives under an existencial anguish sign opprossed by a hateful passion which Joaquín Monegro can only be rid of in his agony and daeth.
