In this paper, we present an elongated speckle images produced from diffusers using sharp elliptical apertures. The orientation of the elliptic aperture is recognized from the direction of the elongation in the speckle images. The aperture tilting out of the plane is investigated. Three models of elliptical apertures are considered and the corresponding speckle images are obtained. The 1st model is composed of two orthogonal ellipses or plus symbol pupil; the 2nd has four symmetric ellipses with an angle of 45° between each of them or in the form of a snow flake pupil and the 3rd model looks like an airplane. Also, the autocorrelation profiles of the speckle images corresponding to the diffused airplane are obtained from which the average speckle size is computed. Finally, the reconstructed images of the described elliptical models and its autocorrelation images, making use of Mat lab code, are obtained.
and decoding process of argon plasma images using digital holography is
proposed. The digital Fourier holography is applied to two images of matrix
dimensions 512 × 512 pixels. The decoded images are improved using wiener
filtering techniques. We have constructed three basic color images of the
original image which is useful to extract the thermal distribution of the
plasma image. Also, the profiles of the reconstructed images are checked
showing better smooth profiles using wiener filter. The Mat-lab code is applied
in the operation of image processing using Fourier techniques.
Background: The present study was undertaken to evaluate the correct
interpretation by university students of internationally available pictograms
and to assess the ability of the pictograms to convey the intended messages.
Aim: To compare the ability of pharmacy and non-pharmacy students to comprehend
pharmaceutical pictograms. Method: Twenty eight internationally available
(United States Pharmacopoeial Convention Inc. USP) pictograms were used
throughout this study, which was conducted with 300 pharmacy and non-pharmacy
students. Questionnaires included relevant questions, and participants were
instructed to study the pictograms and write their interpretations. The
American National Standards Institute requirement of 85% correctness criterion
was used for correct interpretation. Differences between responses of the two
groups were calculated using SPSS version 18 and p < 0.05 was considered
significant. Results: The majority of pharmacy (98%) and non-pharmacy (86%)
students stated that pictograms should be included in medicine leaflet and they
were helpful for all patients. Out of the 28 pictograms 7 (25%) and 2 (7.1%) of
them achieved the ANSI requirement of 85% correctness criterion by pharmacy and
non-pharmacy students respectively. Conclusion: Interventions to increase
public awareness of the usefulness of pharmaceutical pictograms are needed.
The goal of this paper study is to schedule
the power generation units to minimize fuel consumption cost based on a model
that solves unit commitment problems. This can be done by utilizing forward
dynamic programming method to determine the most economic scheduling of
generating units. The model is applied to power station, which consists of four
generating units. The obtained results show that the applications of forward
dynamic programming method offer substantial reduction in fuel consumption
cost. The fuel consumption cost has been reduced from $ 116,326 to $ 102,181 within a 24-hour period. This means saving
about 12.16% of fuel consumption cost. The study emphasizes the importance of
applying modeling schedule programs to the operation of power generation units.
Consequently, the less consumption of fuel is, the less losses of power and
pollution will be.
