Abstract: Evidence-based management is not a new idea. It has developed several years ago, however, it continued through the movement of evidence-based practice following emerging well-known definition of David Sackett from evidence-based medicine. As other professionals, the movement of evidence-based practice, as well as its application in real setting faces to many challenges. This study aimed to address Evidence-based management definition, principles and its challenges for applying in real settings and the possible solutions to overcome the barriers.
Facilitating Reading Comprehension among Engineering Students: Acquiring Successful Strategies

Abstract: The present study aimed at finding out the effect of two different methods of reading instruction, namely, the traditional grammar translation method and reading comprehension strategies on improving the reading comprehension of Iranian engineering students. The participants included 40 male and female Iranian university students majoring in chemistry that randomly divided into two groups of experimental and control. The participants in the experimental group were taught their textbooks focusing on reading comprehension strategies, while the participants in the control group were exposed to the conventionally-used grammar-translation method. Having run 10 sessions of instruction, the performances of the two groups were compared with each other by an independent-samples t-test to find possible differences between the two groups. The findings were indicative of the effective role of reading comprehension strategies on the reading comprehension of Iranian university students. Hepatitis C Virus Cryoglobulinemia and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

Abstract: Context: On the strength of epidemiological data,biological studies, and clinical findings, hepatitis C virus appears to be involved in the pathogenesis of a proportion of patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and cryoglobulinemia.Objectives: The aim of this paper is to review the published literature focused on the current knowledge concerning hepatitis C virus and its potential role in the production of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and cryoglobulinemia in susceptible individuals.Evidence Acquisition: In this review, databases such as pubMed, embase, ISI, and Iranian databases including Iranmedex, and SID were searched.Results: The results of this review indicate that HCV infection may be a likely cause of various B cell dysregulation disorders such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma and cryoglobulinemia.Conclusion: Based on current findings, it has been hypothesized that NHL and cryoglobulinemia in HCV infection may have an immune-mediated pathogenesis. In HCV infected patients, we showed an elevated risk of these two diseases. These finding suggested a possible role for chronic hepatitis C in the pathogenesis of NHL and cryoglobulinemia.
Application of Delphi method for determining the affecting factors upon audit risk model

Abstract: The assessment of risks in an audit work could directly influence the costs, timing, and strategies as well as audit quality. The purpose of this paper is to identify the critical affecting factors on risks proposed in Audit Risk Model (ARM), in Iranian audit environment of Iran. In the present, the Delphi Method consists of 60 audit partners and managers is employed. The panel consists of two equally divided groups, one from audit organization, a governmental organization, and the other from private audit firms. We employ two rounds of Delphi and 58 critical risk factors extracted from auditing literature and Iranian auditing standards and present them to the experts. There are 43 factors categorized as important factors to assess the risks in ARM. The results are considerable in an Iranian audit environment, findings show the most important factors are in inherent risk factors. Finally, we made a comparison with a similar study in Taiwan. Differences indicate that in professional judgment issues like risk assessment, the consideration of particular culture and environment could help enhance the precision of assessments, especially in assessing control risk factors.
Fuzzy audit risk modeling algorithm

Abstract: Fuzzy logic has created suitable mathematics for making decisions in uncertain environments including professional judgments. One of the situations is to assess auditee risks. During recent years, risk based audit (RBA) has been regarded as one of the main tools to fight against fraud. The main issue in RBA is to determine the overall audit risk an auditor accepts, which impact the efficiency of an audit. The primary objective of this research is to redesign the audit risk model (ARM) proposed by auditing standards. The proposed model of this paper uses fuzzy inference systems (FIS) based on the judgments of audit experts. The implementation of proposed fuzzy technique uses triangular fuzzy numbers to express the inputs and Mamdani method along with center of gravity are incorporated for defuzzification. The proposed model uses three FISs for audit, inherent and control risks, and there are five levels of linguistic variables for outputs. FISs include 25, 25 and 81 rules of if-then respectively and officials of Iranian audit experts confirm all the rules.
Age and Gender Effect in Phonetic Perception and Production

Abstract: The aim of this study was primarily to find the relationship between age and the perception and production of English speech sounds by Persian speakers. The researcher also tried to find out the relationship between gender and the discrimination and production of English speech sounds. Sixty subjects took part in this study. They were divided in two groups of thirty children and adults, including fifteen males and fifteen females each. Both groups participated in tests of discrimination and production of English sounds. Two ANOVAs were administered, the results of which supported the idea that children and adults have equal aptitude for perception and production of the English sounds, which implies that there is still room for an innate faculty to continue its work in adulthood. Moreover, gender was not found to be an influential factor regarding perception and production of English sounds. The performance of both groups was significantly superior in production rather than discrimination. This result shows that perception of sounds does not necessarily precede their production.

Formal Developments for Lattice QCD with Applications to Hadronic Systems

Abstract: Lattice quantum chromodynamics (QCD) will soon become the primary theoretical tool in rigorous studies of single- and multi-hadron sectors of QCD. It is truly ab initio meaning that its only parameters are those of standard model. The result of a lattice QCD calculation corresponds to that of nature only in the limit when the volume of spacetime is taken to infinity and the spacing between discretized points on the lattice is taken to zero. A better understanding of these discretization and volume effects not only provides the connection to the infinite-volume continuum observables, but also leads to optimized calculations that can be performed with available computational resources. This thesis includes various formal developments in this direction, along with proposals for improvements, to be applied to the upcoming lattice QCD studies of nuclear and hadronic systems. Among these developments are i) an analytical investigation of the recovery of rotational symmetry with the use of suitably-formed smeared operators toward the continuum limit, ii) an extension of the Luscher finite-volume method to two-nucleon systems with arbitrary angular momentum, spin, parity and center of mass momentum, iii) the application of such formalism in extracting the scattering parameters of the 3S1-3D1 coupled channels, iv) an investigation of twisted boundary conditions in the single- and two-hadron sectors, with proposals for improving the volume-dependence of the deuteron binding energy upon proper choices of boundary conditions, and v) exploring the volume dependence of the masses of hadrons and light-nuclei due to quantum electrodynamic interactions, including the effects arising from particles' compositeness. The required background as well as a brief status report of the field pertinent to the discussions in this thesis are presented.
Two-Baryon Systems with Twisted Boundary Conditions

Abstract: I derive the most general quantization condition for energy eigenvalues of two interacting baryons in a finite cubic volume when arbitrary twisted boundary conditions are imposed on their finite-volume wavefunctions. These quantization conditions are used, along with experimentally known scattering parameters of two-nucleon systems in the coupled 3S1-3D1 channels, to demonstrate the expected effect of a selection of twisted boundary conditions on the spectrum of the deuteron. It is shown that an order of magnitude reduction in the finite-volume corrections to the deuteron binding energy arise in moderate volumes with a proper choice of boundary conditions on the proton and the neutron, or by averaging the result of periodic and anti-periodic boundary conditions. These observations mean that a sub-percent accuracy can be achieved in the determination of the deuteron binding energy at (spatial) volumes as small as ~(9[fm])^3 in upcoming lattice QCD calculations of this nucleus with physical light-quark masses. The results reviewed in this talk are presented in details in Ref. [1].
