%0 Journal Article %T Revisiting Cinematic FASP and English for Legal Purposes in a Self-learning Environment FASP cin¨¦matographique et anglais pour juristes en apprentissage autonome: quelques ¨¦cueils %A Shaeda Isani %J Recherche et Pratiques P¨¦dagogiques en Langues de Sp¨¦cialit¨¦ : Cahiers de l'APLIUT %D 2012 %I Association des Professeurs de Langues des IUT (APLIUT) %R 10.4000/apliut.2575 %X This article proposes to analyse the use of cinematic FASP (fiction ¨¤ substrat professionnel) as resource material in English for Legal Purposes (ELP) classes designed to promote learner consciousness of Anglo-Saxon professional legal culture.After an overview of the recently identified FASP genre and a presentation of the legal FASP sub-genre, the article sums up the specificities of ELP as opposed to ESP in general.In this context, it then focuses on ¡°the French paradox¡± ¡ª the inversion of source and target professional cultures ¡ª one of the specific problems related to teaching ELP to French and other European law students when using culture specific cinematic FASP in a self-learning environment.The article concludes by viewing the didactic problem in a perspective of cultural anthropology to help understand the cognitive and affective processes at work during cultural self-discovery, whether professional or not. Cet article propose d¡¯analyser l¡¯exploitation de la FASP (fiction ¨¤ substrat professionnel) cin¨¦matographique comme support p¨¦dagogique dans le cadre des cours d¡¯anglais juridique destin¨¦s ¨¤ sensibiliser l¡¯apprenant ¨¤ la culture professionnelle juridique des pays anglo-saxons.Apr¨¨s un bref r¨¦sum¨¦ de la FASP, un genre de fiction r¨¦cemment identifi¨¦, et une pr¨¦sentation de la FASP juridique, l¡¯article r¨¦sume les particularit¨¦s de l¡¯enseignement de l¡¯anglais juridique.
